Today is a meh day, just like the picture. I’m dosed with the cold and have spent all morning trying to find an ounce of positivity to give me something to write about.
Shame on me. Somewhere there will be somebody lying on a hospital bed facing a horrible diagnosis, a refugee holding on to an overpacked boat, choosing to leave one nightmare behind to find something, anything better, a child who hates school but would choose it over her abusive parents, a homeless, unemployed person queuing up to be told there is nothing for them.
So, in the mists of my relatively bearable circumstances I can see life has been better for me than many. Remember the story about Corrie ten Boom’s sister Betsy? Their room in the concentration camp was infested with fleas and she was able to be thankful because they kept the guards out!
So it is an easy exercise to find one good thing here. Many would find it hard, but I shouldn’t. The sun is trying to come out, my dog is peaceful beside me and I am comfortable.
What about you? Whatever you are facing, can you find one good thing? It can be hard, close to impossible, when you are in the middle of darkness. Or is there a way for you to help someone else see something good? I hope you find it, and share it if you can. All of us are waiting for something good. Maybe you can be the one who brings it to someone else.
