I thought my earring was gone for good but then my daughter found it. Last week I was sitting on the kitchen floor unable to get myself up, but then my neighbour found me and helped me up. Those two events, little and big, involved finding. The joy surrounding both was great!
Since I broke my hip last year, I have spent weeks thinking I would never have contact with the outside world again. But then, bit by bit, I found myself enjoying fresh air and even getting close enough to other people to have a conversation! Finding ways to overcome and to discover what I thought was lost has become such a blessing to me.
Have you lost something that you wish you still have, or do you feel lost yourself? Not knowing the struggles you are facing, I will encourage you not to lose heart. If you have enough strength, keep your eyes open for people who need to be found. If you are the one who feels forgotten, I will tell you that is not true. Your name is written on His palms and He never forgets. He doesn’t like losing anything; sheep, coins, people. Read how many parables are devoted to that very topic.
I watched a very moving documentary which showed a granddaughter singing a song to her grandad that he used to sing to her. His memory broke through the mists of Alzheimer’s and he started to sing with her. Something precious was found that day too.
I know what it feels like to lose something or to feel lost yourself. But, maybe not as quickly as you would like, everything, everyone will be found.
