Fight for your chances

Two nights ago, my husband and son told me to stand up and come down the stairs to see something amazing. I reluctantly struggled into the garden and looked up to see a faint version of what you see in the picture above. They were both so excited and all I could think about was how I would get inside. Shame on me.

I often write about seeing colours in the darkness and defying the odds to achieve something but last night I let my struggles win and the chance which might never happen again in my lifetime nearly passed me by. So today I’m encouraging you to seize every opportunity you are given to live life to the very best of your ability. It might take an effort, it might not happen the way you expect, but have courage and wait to be amazed. Unusually and fortuitously, I may get a second chance tonight*. And I will do it better. I will look up at the sky and treasure what it offers to me. The words ‘ok’ and ‘not that spectacular’ will not come out of my ungrateful lips. Because this is a second chance to take hold of something very special.

People talk about FOMO, the fear of missing out. Of course I live with that a lot. But not every time. If you are able, see if you can find a clever way to join in or have the courage to stand up with everyone else. Remember the times you achieved something before and believe you can again. The sky is literally the limit!

Do you remember the last time you felt excited? Try and feel it again today. There is always another chance to do something differently. Don’t let the reasons not to do something win. There is something you wish you could do. Sit down and think about what that is and do it. I’m in if you are!

*unfortunately the lights did not appear the next night so I am very glad I caught them . Now I see that living life as though you have only one chance is the right way to do it.
