New every morning

There is one mercy for some MS sufferers. When we get up in the morning, it’s like all our old weaknesses have been temporarily fixed. At the start of most days, I’m more able than at any other point of the day. Of course, by lunch time that’s been forgotten and my heavy limbs have returned. It’s like a mercy gap at the start of the day, when all is forgotten and the record is set straight again, I can put my shoes on, go on my trike, swing by legs however I please. Not at any other time, sadly,

Have you ever longed for a do-over? A chance to escape from your mistakes and foibles? I just wish that I could get one day off from being like this.

Is there any way you can make that possible for someone else? A break from caring for someone, a full night’s sleep for a new mother, a day off from having a non-stop life? It might only be a dream, but even an hour out, a chance to step off the treadmill of life could really give someone a lift.

Have a think. Annoyingly I can’t do anything for anyone but I’m still going to try and find some little thing I could do for some poor soul who is worn out with living. Even arranging flowers or a gift to be delivered is something.

Everybody deserves a break, and you have the power to give it to them,

The words of a Matt Redman song have been going round my head: New every morning, new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness.

There is a chance to take hold of something fresh and new. It might have a limited sell-by date, but it’s yours for the taking.
