Do the things that you thought were impossible.
Last week I was on Marble Hill beach in Donegal for the first time in years. I shook off the memory of walking easily along the shore and tried to be thankful that I was there again, by a different way. What I had not thought of was the sea breeze, the sound of waves breaking and the feeling of the wind whipping around me. I had missed out on all those things.
So the lesson that I wanted to impart to you is, don’t rule out anything. I was reminded of events in the Bible where people did not let physical barriers stop them: God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, two men lowered their paralysed friend through a roof, Jesus got into a boat so He could preach to a bigger crowd, Zaccheus climbed a tree to see Jesus and so many more!
If you are feeling overwhelmed or trapped by circumstances, remember to consider a different way to defy them. Last summer I set my feet on the sand for a second, this year I travelled over it in an electric beach wheelchair. I no longer felt cut off, and as one unexpected friend said, I looked very cool😊
So shake off your ‘can’t’s and ‘not any more’s and open your mind to consider all the options that are available to you.
Maybe next summer I’ll find another way! Never say never!
