A story to tell

There is no person on this earth who does not have their own story. Some don’t have the power to speak for themselves, many don’t think their experience is worth talking about, few believe that they have anything that deserves to be noticed.

I used to think that my remarkable days were done and that this present experience is best forgotten. But if you look at it a different way, there is plenty to pay attention to. Just look at all my blog posts. I have discovered that shared experiences start conversations.. In the past I would never have dreamed of talking to someone with a rollator or in a wheelchair but now I’ve joined that club and feel I’ve earned the right to speak. It’s not the story I ever thought I would tell but it’s the one I’ve got so far. I really hope there will be a different one in the future but for now, ‘this is my story, this is my song’*

I should be finding a different story for writing but so far I’ve not found one. They say write what you know but to be honest, I’d prefer to lose myself in a new story.

So what’s yours? Remember that even if it’s full of pain and sadness someone will be glad you told it to them. Maybe it will make them feel that they are not alone, that somebody else has been there too.

*Blessed Assurance, Fanny J Crosby.
