I often write about my dislike of change, but maybe we need to see change as a chance to embrace a fresh start, to welcome new beginnings. Two days ago I had the precious chance to hold my year old nephew. That was when I started to be thankful for change, the chance to start over. Whatever difficulties have been endured, goodness is waiting on tiptoe to bless you.

Lift your foot out of the mire of your painful past and step into something different. It is very easy to expect the same things that you have faced in the past to be repeated all over again. But what if they were different? What if they are new? What if they are better? Shake off the weights you are burdened with and dance in the freedom of new beginnings.

I reject the jaded outlook of ‘I knew that would happen’ and be pleasantly surprised. Hold the soft hand of a child and learn their unfailing trust. Touch the downy head of a baby and believe in the God who makes all things new.

I love realising that there are lessons we have yet to learn. It only took a little baby to remind me about that. What will it take for you?
