Jumping in puddles

Do things sometimes happen for a welcome reason?

Last week, a few mornings in a row, a little girl in her pink wellies dragged her mum outside so she could jump in the puddles and sing. At first I thought it was sweet but over the weekend as I dealt with my own puddles of tears as my son headed off the Aberdeen university, I realised I had been shown a way to deal with my puddles: dance and sing through them!

Are you finding yourself in rainy times right now? Take my hand and we’ll go splash in the puddles together. It is good to acknowledge our tears before we jump out of them. And if we find ourselves back there, that’s ok. The wee girl was able to splash and sing because her mum was there. Who can you be available for, if they need someone to stand with them, while they go through their time of sadness?

A few days ago, the heavy rain subsided and there was a strong rainbow.

If you can, watch out for rainbows and little girls dancing in puddles. These are precious gifts that are easy to miss. Catch hold of them and treasure them. However heavy the rain, however dark the clouds may be, there will always be times of song and rainbows. Are you looking out for them?
