Something must be going right. If you feel like you’re overwhelmed, look around for good things.
I was told recently by my physio that I was not showing any improvement. That was a hard knock to my confidence. After clearing two shelves for moving house I was beaten. I sat there and remembered a line from Psalm 23,
‘You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.’
So no matter what is happening, no matter what people tell you, the truth is that something good is there for you. As I write this, my husband has put a chocolate croissant pudding on my lap that my daughter made earlier today. In the presence of doom sayers and poor health, there is always something to be thankful for. If it’s delicious pudding, all the better!
I am reminded of other times when I was having a hard day and then someone said something to me that turned it all round. Yesterday my foot was dragging. One person asked me what had happened, but another said ‘we all have bad days’. That was a blessing right there. I was slightly embarrassed using a beach wheelchair until someone else said I looked cool. If you have a good word to say to someone, say it! You have no idea what a feast you are giving to them.
When life is going against you, pause and let a kind friend look after you. Feasts are being prepared, so pull up a seat and tuck in!
