I really should be celebrating this every day. I frequently see the answered prayers from grandparents and beyond but most days I forget that I am not here living the life I have purely by accident. Sometimes I remember seeing my grandparents sitting together praying, or my mum kneeling by her bed. I was, am, one of the people they were interceding for. My husband’s grandparents were like that too.
My son sent me a photo of him wearing a stethoscope yesterday. That his granny used decades ago. I met a very smiley girl in the shop today and only realised later when she was with her granny that I had met her before at the special assistance area of Edinburgh airport. Her granny was incredibly kind then and her granddaughter showed that to me too.
So, remember that prayers and kindness can span generations. You may think that nothing you do counts for anything, but just think back and remember that, even when you didn’t know it, somebody was praying for you.
Now perhaps is the time to pay it forward. Pray for people you know, people you see, and even if you never see the answer, you might be surprised. I love the idea of heaven being packed with people we had forgotten about, or prayed for once. What a wonderful day that will be!
