Where you are.

I’ve discovered a different lesson- sometimes life does not get any easier. Sometimes things don’t end. Sometimes the light doesn’t come when we think it definitely should.

I was reading yesterday about a group of monks in the fourth century who travelled to the desert in Egypt to live.

So, perhaps, even when we find ourselves in a hopeless place, good things can be found, hard lessons can be learnt. We can’t sit by and wildly hope for things to change. Sometimes they do, but often they don’t. Take the constant rain we’ve had here in Northern Ireland as an example!

I read a wonderful thing that said ‘Jesus walks towards the pain’. I wonder if we have the courage to do that for someone else? Not waiting until they have sorted themselves out, but coming next to them when they are still in a mess.

There will always be deserts and wilderness, but you are never alone there. Make sure your friends aren’t either.
