This week has been a life lesson for my son. Every time he tried to do something, he was turned back. This evening I have been thinking about hurdles as well- I’m home alone and it has taken me 35 minutes to get in the position I wanted- lying on my bed! Keeping going can be disheartening. But there’s always that mantra- never give up.

Is there something you want or need to do at the moment and you keep hitting a wall? If it is vital, then keep on trying. Get someone beside you if that helps. Today my son succeeded but it took all week. I’m waiting for my family to come back in an hour’s time so I can safely get up again!

Having read today about refugees in Rwanda who have been waiting for FOUR years for a change in status I don’t have a thing to complain about.

I’m sure people training for actual hurdles have many tips about getting over them. One might be: forget what’s behind and just focus on the next one ahead. Anytime I think about my recent past, all the fears I have rise up again. But if I just focus on the next challenge and forget what’s gone before, I know it will be easier to overcome. There’s a very apt verse for that:

[12-14] ‘I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.’
