These wet days, it feels like blue sky is a thing of the past. I have heard about a number of people who have received yet more bad news and it does feel like there is no let up. Palestinians were bombed again yesterday, they have released more photos from the Epstein files and Ukraine is still waiting for a peace deal. The rain keeps falling. Will there ever be an end?
In these damp, relentless times, there has to be hope. Hope for a change of season, a permanent pause to fighting, a transformation.
Looking out at the heavy clouds I remind myself of the blue sky I saw but nearly forgot about just a few days ago.
(I stepped away from this post as I was finding it too depressing). But then, from a different window, I spied a tiny scrap of blue sky. Then, minutes later, a great tit appeared at the window and flew to a branch of the cherry tree in the front garden. I heard about a baby being born this week too. Even in times of persistent grey, goodness breaks through. As always, it can happen when you least expect it. I looked at that bird and thought, how many times have you perched up there when I was too busy complaining about rain, the state of the world or just life in general?
So this is your challenge for today: let light break into your grey life. The best thing about it is sometimes it will take you by surprise. You don’t always need to go out searching for it.
