Whatever is going on in your life, however you’re feeling, look back on all the gifts you have been given over the years and remember the giver.
Last week, a widower gave my parents a book for me. It was not the type of writing you would expect but I was touched he had thought of me. Years ago a little North African boy took off his precious gold bracelet and gave it to me. I still have it. He will never know it inspired a book I wrote and he will never know how much his gift meant.
Do you have something like that? Have you ever given somebody a gift that, many years later, still resonates? Or maybe it was something somebody said that you still remind yourself about now. (Of course there are harmful words and acts but I’m talking about the good this time!)
Perhaps you can’t think of anything but one thing you can control is what you can give to somebody else. I’m thinking about what I could give and who would it be for. Remember how much it meant to you and how you can pay it forward. It doesn’t have to cost much. Some things are precious that have no monetary value. Others cost a lot. Even a life.
