
I learned another lesson this weekend. I had always thought,in that picture above, my daughter had her hands up as she was calling for her big brother, but no, she informed me recently that she was actually looking through her binoculars. You can just about make them out.
If you look closer, or consider things from another angle, you might see it all differently.
When I look over my past, I can recognise that there were good things or people beside me that I probably missed at the time, as difficulties blurred my vision. Now I see my friends and family, the medical staff, the kind people praying for me. At the time I would probably have described myself as alone. I was not
Can you re-focus on your hard times and see the helpers that were just out of your vision? I am slowly beginning to write a novel called Angels with Boots on, acknowledging that very thing.
Sometimes, shifting your focus can completely transform your experience.
If you were to look at the flower bed next to our car, you might conclude it was full of weeds, but if you look again you will see splashes of blue, pink and yellow wild flowers. They are getting stronger and maybe one day there will be more colour than weed.
So, lift up your own binoculars and see that, actually, your life was better than you thought. Even in the darkness, little lights can be found.
