Know your limits

But have courage to push beyond them too.

Maybe I can see I am giving up, or maybe I’ve got too scared. It is a balancing act- to venture or to stay where you are. Do you recognise that in yourself?

My dad fell and broke his arm this week. Before that, he was courageously still keeping going but now? Who knows. Do you see yourself as courageous? Trying things that scare you or, like me, staying under the covers.  But here’s the impetus: if someone else you see is facing obstacles and sometimes overcoming them, maybe you need to as well.

For all the children facing chemo, for the elderly facing loss, for my dad, it’s time to be brave. Every time I look at my rollator from the safety of my wheelchair I know I’m looking at the chance to be courageous.

What is it that scares you? Perhaps it is time to face it.

But remember, it’s ok to back away too. Never let the sense of failure stop you from believing there will be other chances. Never say never. Tomorrow is another day. Another opportunity to be brave. So test your limits, overcome them or remember there will be other times to be a hero.
