I’ve been hesitant to write this one because it’s very difficult to acknowledge. Most of us don’t want to give in to the fact that life is hard. Certainly most would prefer that it wasn’t. I was looking online a couple of days ago and saw that 99% of the posts that are written are about silver linings and things making us stronger. Very few, if any, talked about the hard road we find ourselves on.

Watching my daughter get her very good GCSE results on Thursday I realised again that she too is on her own journey; to hard things but also amazing ones! Looking to the future, you might feel like there’s nothing to be happy about. But this morning I sang the words, ‘Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us’ and that hugely comforted me. The amazing thing is that I am, we all are, on a journey that has downs but also ups. Views filled with dark clouds but also resplendent with light.

I’ll be honest, I never expected to be on this road that life has put me on. If I had seen what lay ahead I would have turned away. But nobody can ever control their future. Just as well. If I had been in charge, what wonders would I have missed, what people would I have never met? The journey, for all of us, is not what we would have predicted, but who better to design it than our Master Navigator? I would rather leave the steering to Him than try and take over myself.

My hope is that better destinations are ahead of us all. Just you wait and see🥰
