Living without

My electric wheelchair broke yesterday. I tried to carry on without it but, honestly, I’m adrift! Surviving without something, or more painfully, someone, is so hard.

I’m facing five days without my husband this coming week. It’s funny how much he does for me every day. It’s only when he’s not here that I see that. I would love to be independent, self-sufficient and physically able but I know that this  living without is actually teaching me a lot about living with. Living with other people helping,, living with faith, living with courage.  There will always be days when we look about and see nothing. There will always be times of grief. But, what else?

Remember that the seat beside us is never empty. Remember you are never alone. Hard to believe that, isn’t it? Because God’s word tells us He will never leave us or forsake us. Living without might show us that. Not always though. Memories, photographs, or Bible verses might sustain us but only the Living God can carry us through. No one else.
